Antarctic Expedition Toolkit
Answers to the questions we hear most from the field.
Maps and field guides must be downloaded while you still have signal — do this before boarding. Go to Settings → Offline Content → Download All, and confirm the progress bar reaches 100% before you lose connectivity.
Briefings sync automatically when the ship regains satellite signal, usually once a day. If notes are more than 48 hours out of date, pull down on the Briefings tab to force a manual sync.
GPS tracking for landing-site logging runs in the background. Turn this off under Settings → Location → Track My Landings if you don't need it, especially in cold conditions where battery drains faster regardless.
Guide access codes are issued per expedition contract. Check the confirmation email from your expedition operator, or contact the team directly.
The app needs photo library permission to export images. Check Settings (on your device, not in-app) → Antarctic Expedition Toolkit → Photos, and set this to "Allow Full Access."
Reach out via the contact section and we'll get back to you — usually faster once we're back in satellite range.
